Last Friday, during our Incentive Day, a group of 8th grade students worked with Mrs. Harrington and Mrs. Senft to participate in a collaboration with The Positive Painting Project (based in Pittsburgh). Students attended a brief presentation that explained The Positive Painting Project, the importance of checking in on others and overall mental health awareness, and various coping strategies that can be used when students are struggling emotionally. Following the presentation, students were able to paint a canvas, which will be sent to The Positive Painting Project, have a positive message screen-printed on the front, and then be returned for display throughout our building. We would like to thank Mr. Vena for helping us find funding to complete this project and Mrs. Egal for allowing us to use her room and art supplies (while also providing art advice during the event).
