Music with Mrs. Diamond
I am currently teaching general music grades K-4, 7 & 8 as well as chorus grades 5-8. It is my hope that students will find something about music they can enjoy and share with others.
Elementary music focuses on the foundations of music; singing, moving & playing. Students have the opportunity to play a variety of percussion instruments & recorder to learn how to read music.
Seventh grade students learn about world & US history through the study of composers and genres of music.
Eighth grade music mainly focuses on the study of acoustics and introduces students to jobs that are not necessarily in music but related by the field of acoustics. We also spend a small amount of time learning the basics of note reading and playing guitar.
Chorus is a great outlet for those students who like to sing and perform. We prepare music for two concerts a year. The elementary typically does a small musical with unison and some two part singing. At the middle school level we begin to expand our abilities and begin work on three part music.
