Welcome to the North Star Middle School Nurse page!
I started my career as a Registered Nurse 20 years ago at Somerset Hospital after graduating from Allegany College of Maryland. I have experience in medical/surgical nursing, emergency department and managing an interventional cardiology office. I completed my bachelor's degree through Ohio University and obtained my School Nurse Certification through Slippery Rock. This is the start to my 9th year here at North Star Middle School.
School nursing is a unique and specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well-being, academic success, and life-long achievement of students. School nurses provide services to the entire school population: children with special needs, typical well children, school staff, and the community.
Health and learning go hand in hand. The school nurse has a multi-faceted role within the school setting; one that supports the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of our students while supporting the academic success of the student population.
